I was on a train from Providence to Boston when I got news that the artwork I had done for The Dear Hunter’s Color Spectrum had been nominated for the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM)’s Libera Awards for “Best Creative Packaging”. It was a pretty insane feeling I’ll tell you. I’ve never won any design awards, let alone nominated…most likely because I’ve never been the competitive type. Now, I’ll be biting my nails until June 21st.
Thanks to all of the amazing TDH fans I’ve met in past year who have said nothing but the nicest most encouraging things about the artwork I did for The Color Spectrum. You are all the best.

So this is happening. Designed the poster real quick…can’t say it’s the greatest thing I’ve ever designed, but the show on the other hand is going to be bananas. Last time we played with The Dear Hunter at Bottom of the Hill, it sold out. I hope that happens again.

So much neglect to my poor tumblr page. Here’s a poster I was commissioned to design for the very exciting, one night only event in May, where The Dear Hunter will play the Color Spectrum in it’s entirety. You never know…you may just see a guest appearance by yours truly at this show.

I finally got around to taking some product shots for the artwork/packaging design I did for The Dear Hunter this year.
It would mean the world to me if you clicked the photo and checked out my gallery of art that I’ve created this year for Casey and The Dear Hunter. I’ve included everything from the individual covers to the as of yet, unseen limited edition prints that I just did for “The Complete Collection” Special Edition, CD release. This is how I’ve spent a good portion of 2011, and I couldn’t be happier that people are seeing and enjoying what I love.

The unboxing of the CD release of the Dear Hunter’s Color Spectrum Complete Collection. All of this was designed by me…and all I care about is if I get one or not.
52 page booklet…whatchu know about that?

Finally completed a project for a good friend of mine, Max Tousseau of Arc Type Set, who also plays in The Dear Hunter. He’s been working on this EP for almost a year, and I wanted to do something really unique and special for the artwork. I couldn’t be happier with how the typography, color combination, and illustration all came together…it’s the perfect balance of my personal tastes.

The Color Spectrum CD boxed set
Includes the 36 song set on three CDs in a “deluxe wood box,” with an exclusive linoleum woodblock hand pulled print, numbered, and signed by Casey Crescenzo and designer Cameron Thorne (who designed all the artwork for the EPs and appeared on the Blue and Yellow EPs), a DVD includes over 2 hours of new material (details on LATR) and a 52 page booklet.
Currently hand printing these tedious babies right now.

High-res White EP cover!
My favorite EP cover by far…so time consuming and so rewarding. When I heard the music for the White EP, the overall “feel” I got was inspirational, open, and anthem-esque. I thought about the sorts of imagery that “universally” express an open, inspirational sentiment. I explored the idea of doing a landscape style piece, but felt it was a cop-out because Blue & Green already had elements of that style. I decided to create a three-dimensional, abstract, topography map out of white cardstock, held together with nothing but sewing pins.

Violet EP cover (way over due you say?)
When I was commissioned by Casey to do all of the Color Spectrum EP covers, the song “Lillian” was one of the first tracks I was sent. I wanted to capture the tragedy of celebrity that the song poses, so I decided to do an illustration of a 20’s era flapper girl. I wanted her to look beautiful but troubled with a minimal, vacuous background.
